When Christian nationalists and other transphobes lash out at trans people, what's really at stake is this:

Will we have a society that honors *human autonomy* as a central value? That celebrates human freedom and human flourishing?

Or will we live in a society built to sustain some other form of social order?

Christo-fascists see very clearly that these are the stakes. What's in play are the very fundamentals of what we consider a good society.

"Are you saying that if I snigger at someone's boob job, I am siding with the authoritarians?"

Yes.

OK, I am human, therefore fallible, therefore prone to pass stupid and juvenile judgement on other people's free choices, even when they are not my business.

But in the clear cold analytic morning, I can sometimes see more clearly. I can see that the urge to curb another human's will to pursue their own happiness, is where authoritarianism starts.

Put another way: If seeing me growing my breasts rocks your "family values" on their foundations, then maybe your family values were pretty wobbly to begin with.

It was several months after my egg cracking that I realised/understood that I could do what I wanted to my body.

My therapist said ‘true agency demands knowledge’

Obviously I could’ve done any of these things before (tattoos piercings etc) but I didn’t know that I was allowed to

Thanks again for sharing your story xx

It sure is funny how when a cis woman with breast cancer gets a double mastectomy, it’s seen as a necessary and important thing, but when a trans man gets the same damn procedure suddenly people care about what’s “natural.” And with breast augmentation. And HRT--there are ads on the radio all the time for HRT for cis men!

And by “funny” I mean “exhausting.”
